What's a Chiaro?

The Chiaro is a portion of free water from plants or other deposits and therefore clear.

There's however whoever tells that the Chiaro is the clean part of a filled of water of flood.

There's whoever tells that the Chiarot is not anything else other than the vulgarization of the term Etruscan Clevsin.

For us with the Chiaro term is understood two small lakes, situated to the boundary between the province of Siena and the province of Perugia.

You can go to the Chiaro from Rome or Florence through the highway A1 (Chiusi exit Val of Chiana) and from Perugia through the E45 + SS 454 and from Siena or Chiusi through the SS 326.

The Chiaro of Chiusi

The Chiaro of Chiusi is far around 5 km from Chiusi city.

To the first look the Chiaro is surrounded from low hills (on the background Chiusi).

Along his shores is very easy meet varied kind of birds between which ducks, snipes and as other.

The lake offers the possibility, along his shores, to stay (also with camper) and to practise both the canoe and the fishes.

In the environs they are visible the two towers of sighting, remember the disputes local medioevals, denominate ...

Along the road that carries to the Chiaro you could meet the indications for any Etruscan graves (the grave of the Granduca and the grave of the Monkey) practically not visitable directly.

However in the environs there is other Etruscan graves visitable using local guides.

The Chiaro of Montepulciano

Smaller then the Chiaro of Chiusi, the Chiaro of Montepulciano is however beutiful for the naturalistic and fauna.

The Chiaro is relatively little deep and occupy an area of around 1 kmq with about any zones covered from the typical wicker frames.
