During the Neolithic and the Copper Age the area of Mount Cetona was populeted before by Homo Neanderthal and then Homo Sapiens.
Today in the Belverde archaeological and naturalistic park is possible to visit many important prehistorical setting as the "Grotta of St. Francesco", the "Antro of Noce", the "Antro of Poggetto" used as cemetery (here the first humans buryng their deads) and cult celebrations.
It's also possible to visit others dwellimg in the caves as the "Grotta of Carbonaia", the "Grotta of Lattaia" and the "Riparo of Capriolo".
The visit to the archaeological and naturalistic park (about seven caves) is possible only in the summer (from July to September) and the entrance is with fee.
